Godox AD600 Pro

Let’s talk lighting. Now we all know what makes a great image. Photons, CMOS sensors, optical glass, complex computer algorithms, industrial strength lighting support and yes, of course, coffee. How much, well that really depends on your cardiovascular health, hydration levels and type of bean your chugging, but HEY! I said we were here to talk about lighting, stop getting off topic!

Meet, the AD600 pro. If you’ve never used Godox lights before, then you won’t be familiar with their sleek design, simplistic user interface, or their ability to outshine the competition time and time again.

Lets say you wanted to be a racecar driver, in a world FILLED with racecar drivers (I bet you didn’t notice I spelled racecar backwards, did you?). Everyone loves to have the most expensive flashiest racecars with all the bells and whistles, and the ones all the big wigs use.

But what if there was a car that could do everything the big wigs did, had basically the same specifications and output as the most expensive models, but did it for a fraction of the cost? It would verge on foolish to spend money just for a name, wouldn’t it?

I know of course it’s not that simple, but that’s only because humans LOVE to make things complicated. So for now, lets just pretend we’re not human… or, at least, you can pretend, some of us don’t have to…

The Godox AD600 packs so much into itself, at such a reasonable MSRP of $899.00, that its a wonder why anyone would opt to spend money they didn’t have to. Boasting impressive features like 16 continuous flashes at 1/16 power, less than 1 second recycle time at full power, and an incredible battery providing over 300 full power pops, it’s got a lot going for it.

Now, I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the most popular brands in the world. From Speedotron, Profoto, Elinchrom just to name a few. I still recall the days having to shoot on location in the remote wilderness with 300 pounds of gear, on top of which needing to lug a generator around just to have power…

Not to mention the annoyance of having a screaming Honda Jenny(say it like Forest Gump) running all day to power my 4803CX and not being able to hear anyone. Thankfully, those days have passed.

I’ve been using the Godox system now for the better part of 2021, and can honestly say I’ll never look back. The compact size, durable build quality, beautifully consistent light is something I think every photographer can be stoked for.

The AD400/600/1200 are all able to mount bowens type light modifiers. Most photographers have at least two dozen bowens modifiers laying around in studio, unless you’re the duct tape and tinfoil type guru (hats off to you!…tin foil hat that is). The mounting mechanisms are solid, reliable and make switching modifiers a breeze. Everything feels extremely solid and locks in without hesitation. So grab those 7’ octoboxs and suit up! Take your studio game from bland to Grand.
